If Plan B finds its way to the MA Wal-Mart shelves, then customers only have to worry about the pharmacist on duty. Aren't the pharmacists lucky, to have such a powerful UNION that relieves them of the obligation to do their job? I wish I had a UNION like that. I wish I had a UNION at all. Thirty-five years into my working life, I realize that the best working conditions I ever had (though not to be confused with the best salary) were provided by Musicians Local #<redacted for the privacy's sake>. UPDATE: I'm referring the Association of Wingnutty Pharmacists (or whatever their real name is) as a union because they are acting like one in that they representand act for a group of workers to achieve a common benefit for their members, to wit, that said members don't have to fill prescriptions they find morally repulsive. I justify this liberty on the if-it-quacks theory. Sorry for the obfuscation. Snark value for this post: High.
Three women in Massachusetts (a state that looks better from a distance, IMO) have sued Wal-Mart over not stocking Plan B. Just in case you need this information, Wal-Mart stocks Plan B only in Illinois, where state law requires it. The plaintiffs claim that Plan B is required under Massachusetts law also, as a drug commonly needed by the community.
Wonder of wonders, CNN reports this too! (But I bet they don't pick up this interview, "US firms must go green, says Gore." Gosh, ya think?)
